Boustani M, Sloane P. Should residential care/assisted living facilities institute falls prevention programs for their residents? Annals of Long-Term Care 2003 Feb;11(2):39-44.

Falls and their consequences are a major public health and economic issue. Fair evidence exists that falls can be prevented in community and nursing home settings by implementing an assessment followed by individualized, multicomponent preventive programs. There is, however, limited direct evidence to show that multicomponent preventive programs are effective in residential care/assisted living settings.
