GOCAR's Vision, Mission and Leadership
 

GOCAR's vision is to improve the health and healthcare of older adults through conducting and applying gero-informatics research. The mission of GOCAR is to foster gero-informatics through

  Advancing research in gero-informatics,
  Maintaining funding for research related to gero-informatics,
•  Increasing local and national recognition of gero-informatics,
  Supporting the gero-informatics needs of the Center for Aging Research and IU Geriatrics, and
  Developing funding streams that support gero-informatics initiatives

 


Dr. Michael Weiner

 

GOCAR is led by Michael Weiner, MD, MPH . Dr. Weiner is associate professor of medicine in the Indiana University School of Medicine, center scientist in the IU Center for Aging Research and research scientist in the Regenstrief Institute. Dr. Weiner's clinical and health services research focuses on measuring and improving quality, organization, and delivery of health services for older adults. He studies the effects of health information and information technology on physicians' practices and patients' outcomes. His current research funding includes a Mentored Patient-Oriented Research Career Development Award (K23) which supports the career development of investigators who have made a commitment to focus their research endeavors on patient-oriented research.
